Access to Work Coaching
Funding for the support you need to thrive at work
Access to Work is a UK Government programme designed to help people with a disability, health condition or physical or mental health difficulty access the practical support they need to start, remain in, or progress in employment.
This can include support for people with neurological or neurodivergent differences, including Autism and ADHD, whether formally diagnosed or not.
Access to work coaching is priced at £95 per hour.
What can Access to Work support?
Funding may be available for practical support that helps you:
Start a new job or return to work
Stay in your current employment
Manage challenges associated with your role
Develop strategies that support your wellbeing and effectiveness at work
Move into self-employment or establish a business
Depending on your circumstances and the outcome of your Access to Work assessment, funding may be available for coaching for up to 12 months.
Could you be eligible?
You may be able to access support if you have a physical or mental health condition, disability or neurodivergence that affects your ability to work. This can include conditions such as Autism or ADHD, including where you do not have a formal diagnosis.
Eligibility is not dependent on whether you work full-time or part-time, and the amount you earn does not determine whether you can apply.
Access to Work funding is intended to provide additional support rather than replace your existing income or benefits. A grant does not normally need to be repaid.
How do I apply?
You can apply directly through the UK Government’s Access to Work service:
www.gov.uk/access-to-work
Once you have applied, you will normally need to complete an assessment to establish what support would be appropriate for you. Please be aware that assessment waiting times can be lengthy. Waiting times can change, so I recommend checking the latest information when you apply.
Following approval, depending on the arrangements agreed with Access to Work, you or your employer may need to cover some costs initially and reclaim them, or Access to Work may arrange payment directly to your coach.
My approach to Access to Work coaching
Workplace difficulties rarely exist in isolation. Challenges with concentration, organisation, time management, deadlines, communication or energy can be influenced by what is happening outside of work — and the demands of work can, in turn, affect life at home and in the wider community.
For this reason, our coaching goes beyond simply identifying strategies to improve workplace productivity.
Rather than focusing exclusively on areas such as procrastination, time management, focus or meeting deadlines, I will work with you to develop a deeper and more holistic understanding of how your brain processes information, demands, environments and everyday experiences.
Together, we can explore:
How your neurodivergence affects your experience of work and daily life
The situations and environments in which you thrive or struggle
Patterns that may be contributing to overwhelm, avoidance or reduced capacity
Your strengths, preferences and individual ways of working
Practical strategies that are realistic and sustainable for you
How to communicate your needs and advocate for appropriate adjustments
Ways of working that support both your professional goals and overall wellbeing
My aim is not simply to help you become more productive. It is to help you develop a better understanding of yourself, so that the strategies you use are meaningful, sustainable and tailored to the way you actually function.
Why is the Access to Work rate different?
Access to Work coaching rate is £100 per hour.
This rate reflects not only the coaching session itself, but also the additional administration and professional responsibilities involved in delivering support through the Access to Work programme.
Access to Work coaching can involve liaising around funding arrangements, supporting workplace-related objectives, maintaining appropriate records and ensuring that coaching remains focused on the outcomes agreed as part of your support.
I believe this additional work is an important part of providing a high-quality, professional service to Access to Work clients.
